The Robert M. Kerr Food and Agricultural Products Center will host a special predictive microbiology learning experience featuring Dr. Vijaya Juneja, USDA-ARS lead scientist in predictive microbiology, on Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2026.

This is a unique opportunity to learn from an internationally recognized authority in food safety, foodborne pathogens, microbial modeling and minimally processed foods. Dr. Juneja’s work has helped advance how industry, researchers and regulators understand and predict microbial behavior in food systems.

The learning experience will introduce participants to the role of predictive microbiology in food safety and industry decision-making. Participants will gain a basic understanding of microbiology as it applies to industry work and will have the opportunity to use a software program during the session to apply concepts in real time.

About the Speaker

Dr. Vijaya Juneja is a lead scientist in predictive microbiology with the USDA Agricultural Research Service. He is internationally recognized for his expertise in food safety, foodborne pathogens, microbial modeling and minimally processed foods.
