The Payne County Hoof to Hook Youth Steer Feedout & Carcass Contest is designed to educate and empower youth in all aspects of beef production; from pasture to plate. Participants gain real-world experience in feed efficiency, carcass evaluation and industry standards while developing decision-making skills essential to today’s beef industry.

The contest will conclude with an awards ceremony at the 2026 Cattlemen’s Banquet in October, where participating youth will be recognized for their commitment, performance and growth throughout the project.

Youth can nominate no more than two calves at weigh-in and siblings are allowed to familiy nomicate calves. Youth participants can only bring back one animal at final weigh-in. Click here for more information and contest rules.

Cost: $25 includes Payne County Jr. Cattle Producers Membership

Youth must be an active Payne County 4-H or FFA member to participate. Those interested in attending can register by calling the Payne County OSU Extension Office at 405-747-8320.
