Diabetes Educational Program to be offered…
The Bryan County OSU Extension will be conducting L.E.A.D. “Live Well, Eat Well, Be Active with Diabetes”, program geared for people with Type II Diabetes and their family members to help them learn helpful ways to control and manage their diabetes. Participants will receive lots of recipes for healthy diabetic cooking. The FREE four-part diabetes educational program will be held on March 2, 9, 16, 23, Monday evenings, 5:30 – 7:00 pm located at the Bryan County OSU Extension Office, Durant. The program will be taught by Tommie M. James, FCS Extension Educator with the Bryan County Oklahoma Cooperative Extension Service.
As the program’s title suggest, each L.E.A.D four research-based modules focus on various aspects of living well, eat well and being active with diabetes. Examples covered include keys to diabetes management, general meal planning, the Plate method, benefits of activity, carb counting, potential diabetic complication, making healthful food choices, strategies for modifying recipes, key resources and tips for increasing physical activity. This diabetes educational program is offered by the Oklahoma Cooperative Extension Service.
